Christian Trummer, co-CEO of Bitpanda, stated that European crypto users place greater faith in regulated firms following the implementation of MiCA, Europe's Markets in Crypto Assets regulation. Speaking on Cointelegraph's Chain Reaction podcast, Trummer attributed the increased trust to regulatory clarity and oversight that MiCA provides to compliant platforms.

Trummer called for stricter enforcement actions against noncompliant firms operating in the European market. His comments reflect the perspective of a major regulated crypto exchange navigating the MiCA framework, which became effective in late 2023 and established comprehensive rules for cryptocurrency service providers across the European Union.

The regulation requires crypto asset service providers to obtain authorization, implement consumer protections, and maintain capital and liquidity requirements. Bitpanda obtained its MiCA authorization as a crypto asset services provider in 2024.

Trummer's remarks suggest that regulatory compliance creates competitive advantages for authorized firms by building user confidence. His call for enforcement against noncompliant operators indicates industry concerns about unregulated competitors potentially undermining the level playing field created by MiCA's requirements.

The statement comes as European regulators continue implementing MiCA's provisions across member states. Enforcement against unauthorized service providers remains an ongoing priority for national financial authorities under the regulation's framework.
